It affects in general children and women in the reproductive years. In children, eczema of the fingertips can be particularly difficult to treat. Any sucking or biting must be stopped.

The prevalence of eczema has been found to have increased substantially in the latter half of the 20th Century.

There doesn’t exist a cure for eczema, although corticosteroids have been found effective in controlling or suppressing symptoms in most cases.
